HEATHER FIPPS
COMMUNITY IMPACT MEDIA PROGRAM DIRECTOR
Heather is the Founder and Program Director of 'Community Impact Media' an impact media training program at Cal State LA in partnership with Hauser & Wirth. In her role as the films' Producer, she secures community partnerships and mentors student filmmakers through the entire process of creating documentaries to highlight the work of local nonprofits. The films might also address community initiatives or a campaign that the organization is currently promoting. The student filmmakers also receive mentorship from guest artists and filmmakers who are seasoned in documentary and social impact media.
The purpose of this program is three-fold: to engage the young filmmakers with the community thus broadening their perspectives on how their craft can engender social change, to share important community initiatives with a wider audience, and to provide a high-quality media product that nonprofits can use to further their work.
To date, the program has worked with 30 non profit organizations and 300 students. The program is made possible by a generous $1 million grant from international art gallery Hauser & Wirth and supported by the amazing staff and leadership team at Hauser & Wirth Los Angeles.
